Annual Programs For your convenience, Mount Pleasant Group of Cemeteries offers a number of special programs (as described below) throughout the year at its cemeteries. These include our: Living Tributes Flower Bed Program; Wreath Program; and, Special Care Program. | Living Tributes Living Tributes consists of a self-contained receptacle set into the ground, and into which an arrangement of growing flowers are placed. These flowers continue to grow and bloom throughout the summer, expanding to a spectacular fullness; providing a warm, loving tribute to your loved one(s). This service is currently offered at Pine Hills, York, Beechwood, Elgin Mills, Thornton and Duffin Meadows cemeteries, only.
The flower bed program includes:
- Installation of flowers on the grave by June 1st;
- Flowers installed already blooming with mid-season size and colour;
- Weekly watering, weeding (if necessary), and fertilization;
- Use of in-ground floral receptacle.
The program runs from June 1st to August 31st. | Memorial Wreath Program The placement of a memorial wreath is the perfect way to commemorate the life of a beloved family member, friend or other person who has died. Whether you choose a floral, Christmas or Saddle wreath, they are available in various shapes, sizes and colours to pay a sincere and meaningful tribute to those who have departed. To ensure safe mowing of the cemetery grounds, the memorial wreath season is limited to the period from November 1st to March 31st, with the exception of Saddle wreaths which are suitable for placement on upright monuments only and may remain on your lot throughout the year. | Wreath Brochure
The wreath program brochure is usually mailed out around mid-September. If you do not receive a brochure and order form around that time, but would like to purchase a wreath, or would just like more information, please contact your cemetery directly, or click on Wreaths to order on-line (not available between April 1st and September 1st). To order on-line you will need to know the section and lot number of the grave.
You can keep your memorial wreath for use in subsequent years, just remove it from the cemetery no later than March 31st. After that date, the grounds crews begin spring clean-up, and any wreaths left on lots will be removed and disposed of. | The Special Care Program - For a Distinctive Appearance Our “Special Care” service for graves and lots is offered each year and is over and above the regular maintenance performed at the cemetery. This is an optional service that provides individual attention to your grave or lot, giving it a distinctive appearance. Special Care is provided at additional cost, from June 1st to August 31st, and includes the following:
- Grass: ensuring a neat appearance by watering, weeding and fertilizing in addition to our regular maintenance carried out throughout the cemetery;
- Flower Beds: watering, edging,
weeding, general maintenance;
- Existing Shrubs: trimmed at your
specific request.
To ensure the quality of Special Care, new sod must be placed on your lot in the first year that the service is provided. Both the new sod and the consistent care give your lot its distinctive appearance. After the ground has been prepared, fresh sod is placed on your lot as soon as possible in preparation for the Special Care service.
If you would like your lot to receive Special Care, or would just like more information about the service, please contact your cemetery, directly. |
