What options do I have after the cremation has taken place? All ten of our cemeteries have extensive memorialization options for those who have selected cremation. In particular, we have created a Garden of Remembrance, a cemetery within a cemetery, at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Toronto and Meadowvale Cemetery in Brampton. At those locations, we have set aside a special area for unique memorialization of your loved one's ashes. Please contact the cemetery of your choice for detailed information or to arrange a tour.
How soon after interment may I place a memorial? This is entirely a matter of choice. The memorial can be ordered when the interment rights are purchased or at a later date. Most memorials can also be ordered in advance of need.
Must I put a memorial on my grave/lot? No. For identification, each grave or lot is marked with a permanent number marker. However, a personal memorial does provide a permanent reminder of a loved one, and will stand to be viewed by future generations.
What types of memorials are there? The most common memorials in a cemetery are upright monuments, and flat markers of bronze or granite set flush with the ground. At all Mount Pleasant Group of Cemeteries' chapels, a Book of Remembrance features memorials in calligraphy displayed on selected anniversary dates. A memorial tree, a chapel pew or a work of art such as a tapestry or stained-glass window can also be dedicated to someone's memory. You may also place inscriptions on crypt and niche fronts. « Back to Cemetery FAQs |
