A visitation centre is everything a funeral home is with one very important legal distinction, and one significant logistical benefit.
The Legal Distinction
The preparation of the body (embalming, cleaning and dressing) can only occur in a licensed funeral home, and by current Ontario law, funeral homes cannot exist on cemetery properties. Accordingly, for services held at a Mount Pleasant Group of Cemeteries visitation centre the body is prepared at one of our Simple Alternative funeral homes.
The Logistical Benefit
The introduction of the visitation centre concept allows one to conduct a service in its entirety at one location. The visitation prior to the funeral service, the chapel service, the graveside service and the reception afterwards can all be held at the same address. Funerals are meant to be a time of reflection, remembering a life lived and the start to the healing process. They should not be clouded by unneccessary stresses and time pressures caused by the logistics of getting from one place to another through busy streets. |
