Cemetery Pre-planning Checklist


What you can do in advance...

Decide:

  • Cemetery lot location;
  • Casket type; cremation urn type;
  • Vault or sectional crypt;
  • Type of service (religious, military, fraternal);
  • Which funeral home to use;
  • Pallbearers, music, flowers, scripture or other readings;
  • Charity to receive donations in lieu of flowers, if preferred.

Documents:

  • Ensure your essential documents—for example, birth certificate, social insurance card, insurance policies, cemetery interment rights certificate of ownership, funeral service pre-arrangement certificate etc.—are kept in a safe place, and let your executor know where they are;
  • Obtain a copy of Mount Pleasant Group of Cemeteries free L.I.F.E. Estate Planner to help organize your information.

L.I.F.E. Estate Planner

When you make an appointment with one of our Pre-planning Advisors, ask about our free L.I.F.E. (Life Information For Emergencies) Estate Planner. It provides a confidential record of your personal vital information, such as:

  • All vital statistics for yourself and your partner;
  • Names, addresses, etc. of your children, other relatives and friends;
  • Location of all important documents (wills, birth certificates, etc.);
  • Personal investment data;
  • Credit, pension and insurance information;
  • Personal medical information;
  • Cemetery/cremation arrangements;
  • Funeral information.
