Property Service Employee - Temporary Part-time (5 months)

Location: Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Toronto

 

The Successful Candidate will be Required to:

  • Operate backhoes, trucks and other equipment;
  •  Participate in regular cemetery operations including interments and entombments.

 

Days and Hours of Work:

  • As per Collective Agreement;

  • Saturday, Monday and Tuesday;

  • 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

 

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience in cemetery operations;

  • Gardening, landscape, and/or construction work would be considered an asset;

  • You will possess a valid Ontario “G” driver’s licence;

  • Backhoe experience required.

Service Co-ordinator - Contract Fill-time (six months with potential extensions)

Location: Various

 

The Successful Candidate will be Required to:

  • Travel to and work at any location of MPGC as required (while based at York Cemetery);

  • Assist individuals/families in the selection of interment rights, memorials, inscriptions, cremation and all ancillary services;

  • Process documents relating to memorialization and interments for customers  such as interment Rights Certificates, arrangement forms, transfer and exchange documents, grave/cremation/removal orders, memorial/inscription/ceramic photo orders, endowments, receipts, invoices, time-payment contracts, accounts receivable, bank deposits, service request, etc.;

  • Contribute to property maintenance by watching for problem areas when on the grounds and informing the  Property Management Team;

  • Organise and attend graveside/cremation, interments or entombments services as required;

  • Follow up with customers and employees on arrangements and memorializations;

  • Perform any related sundry activities as assigned.

 

Days and Hours of Work:

  • 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. or 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (based upon site requirements.)

  • Five days a week including every Monday, Friday and Saturday;

  • Either Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday off (flexible mid-week day off);

 

Qualifications:

  • A strong commitment to exceeding customer service expectations;

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, problem solving and organisation skills;

  • Keen eye for detail and ability to multi-task;

  • Working knowledge of Windows and MS Office;

  • A valid Ontario “G” Driver’s Licence and a clean Driver’s Abstract;

  • Working knowledge of the death care industry would be considered an asset;

  • Understanding and knowledge of clerical responsibilities would be considered an asset.

Receptionist - Permanent Full-time

:Location: York Cemetery, North York

 

The Successful Candidate will be Required to:

  • Greet visitors to Cemetery and Funeral Centre;

  • Answer a high volume of incoming calls and provide accurate information to callers;

  • Route phone and in-person inquiries to the appropriate staff members and take accurate messages when necessary;

  • Create documents, receipts, and invoices;

  • Complete assigned clerical work as volume of reception area allows;

  • Process payments, service requests, wreath orders and special care orders;

  • Perform other sundry duties as assigned.

 

Days and Hours of Work:

  • Week One: Monday to Saturday;

  • Week Two: Monday to Thursday;

  • 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

 

Qualifications:

  • Degree/Diploma/Certificate in Business or other related disciplines; or equivalent combination of work experience, training and education;

  • At least three years of related experience;

  • Previous experience at a funeral home and/or cemetery would be an asset;

  • Commitment to detail and accuracy;

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; team player;

  • Solid organisational skills, with the ability to work under pressure with competing priorities;

  • Understanding and knowledge of clerical responsibilities;

  • Intermediate proficiency of Windows and MS Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook.
