George Edward Simon
George Simon was a veteran police detective with Metro Toronto, having served on the police force for 37 years. Born in Toronto, Simon was a foreman in a clothing company before he left to join the police force. He joined the North York Township police force in 1941, and served as a uniformed office for only a short while before being assigned to the detective branch. When he retired in 1978, he was a staff sergeant assigned to North York Provincial Court. Described as an excellent, methodical detective, there were few big cases in the early days of the North York Township force that he didn’t have a hand in. George Simon died on November 24, 1986 at the age of 71.
