Arthur P. Coleman

Plot 20, Lot 98
Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Toronto

The unusual rock memorial headstone at Arthur Coleman’s grave is most fitting, in that the Quebec-born University of Toronto Professor of Geology spent many years exploring, surveying, and mapping both northern Ontario and the Canadian Rockies.
Coleman served as president of the Royal Society of Canada, the Geological Society of America, and the Royal Canadian Institute. He received the Victoria Medal from the prestigious Royal Geographic Society in 1933. He died at the age of 86 on February 28, 1939.
