Hector Phillips

This unusual monument is particularly fitting in that “Hec” Phillips was a member of the Canadian Olympic track team on two occasions, the 1920 Games in Antwerp, Belgium and again in the 1924 Paris, France Games. It was anticipated that Phillips would coach the Canadian track and field team at the 1948 Games in London, England. A sudden illness prohibited his participation and he died on October 7, 1948 at the age of 59.
