Joseph Hazleton

Plot 8 Section 2, Lot 5
Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Toronto

Hazelton was born in Ireland in 1823 and emigrated to Canada West (Ontario) in 1847, He eventually settled in Yorkville, then a small suburban community north of Toronto, where he became a carriage driver. It’s quite likely that today’s Hazelton Avenue was named in honour of this pioneer settler. Hazelton died at his homestead, 7 Cumberland Terrace, on February 16, 1905. He was 81.
