Charlie Empringham was born in 1884. He married Ida Mary Ellen Walton in 1904, at the age of 19. Charlie learned the blacksmithing trade, working first in Malvern, and later moving to Scarborough Junction where he operated a blacksmith and carriage-making business on the north-east former of Kennedy and St. Clair. Charlie died on September 2, 1959 at the age of 74.
