John Alexander Leslie was one of the more prominent provincial politicians to serve the Scarborough community. He was a very local community-minded individual, having served as a school trustee and also as MPP for York East. In 1950, he was recognised for his efforts on behalf of the citizens of Scarborough, when Midland Avenue Public School was renamed John A. Leslie Public School in his honour. John Leslie died in 1965.
