William “Bill” Murray

Section 22, Lot 497
Pine Hills Cemetery

Bill Murray was a police detective with the holdup squad when his truck rolled over while he was returning home from his cottage. Oddly, several Outlaws motorcycle gang members were present at his funeral. Bill Murray had ridden undercover with them for 18 months. Despite the fact that he eventually arrested them, they stated their respect for Murray would last a lifetime. The man they called “Captain” was responsible for arresting 126 bikers in the mid-1980s. In his 18-year career, Bill Murray was considered a legend by cops all across Canada, for his undercover accomplishments, not the least of which was finding the killer of a York Regional Constable. Detective William Murray died on Sunday, December 19,1993 at the age of 39.
