Harvey Robert Pollock

Section K, Lot 732
Pine Hills Cemetery

Harvey Pollock established Pollock Shoes with stores throughout Ontario. In 1939, he built Lakewood, a Georgian revival mansion constructed of cement block and stucco, and lived there with his wife, Thorhilda Olin Amelia DeMille, until his death on April 9, 1960 at the age of 77. Amelia died on August 12, 1977 at the age of 90. Their son, Robert Ian Pollock and his wife Kathleen took possession of Lakewood following his father’s death, until selling the property in 2011. Robert and Kathleen are both also buried in this large family lot. The 87-year-old Kathleen, exhibiting signs of Alzheimer’s disease, left her retirement condo one day in 2013, and was found dead in the early hours of the following morning, in front of the family’s abandoned mansion in Scarborough. 95-year-old Robert, a World War II veteran, passed away in Sunnybrook hospital in 2015.
