The perilous state of level crossings in West Toronto Junction, and industrial centre serviced by three main rail lines resulted in several casualties, some of which were fatal. In 1895, William Boddy (Section 12, Lot 39), a 25-year-old relative of A. R. Royce, was ‘accidentally killed in getting off a railroad train,” (the cause of death given in the burial records). The following year, James Reid (Section 14, Lot 104), a local resident twice Boddy’s age, was killed by a Grand Trunk Railway train. On October 5, 1918, the demise of John Irish (born 1877) was similarly attributed to a railway mishap.
