Poet Wolodymyr Skorupsky was editor of the Toronto Ukrainian newspaper New Pathway when he died at the age of 73, on Wednesday, December 11, 1985. Born in the west Ukraine, Skorupsky immigrated to Canada with his mother in 1948. He settled first in Edmonton, Alberta, where he worked as a technician in a dental laboratory. He had planned to enter law, but his studies were interrupted by World War II. Before coming to Canada, he lived for a time in Germany, where he published two of his works of poetry. In all he published about 10 books of Ukrainian poetry, some of which has been translated into English. He had been editor of the New Pathway for about ten years, when he died.
