George Tecunticoff

Section 23, Lot 7464
Prospect Cemetery

The grave of this young man (born 1907), who died the day before his 20th birthday, attests to the presence of person not of Anglo-Saxon descent who lived in West Toronto in the early part of the century. The headstone inscriptions relate the tragic circumstances of his death: “Killed by Electricity.” The medical person who verified the cause of death as electrocution was Dr. Malcolm Crawford. The iconography of the eastern Orthodox cross is apparent on the grave marker, and a Russian priest presided over the burial service of the Moscow émigré. George Tecunticoff died on April 29, 1926.
