York Cemetery
Born in Cairo, Egypt, Artin Antranik Artinian immigrated to Canada in 1963. He established his own business called Swissway Machining Ltd., which employed about 25 people. Artinian was best known, though, for his involvement with the Armenian Community Centre, which he helped found by starting a school aimed at teaching the Armenian language and furthering Armenian culture. Serving as president of the centre for many years, Artinian maintained his involvement right up until his death, contributing to cultural, educational and athletic endeavours. He often lectured at the centre, on a variety of subjects. Antranik Artinian was just 55 when he died at his home on January 6, 1986.
