Cyril Edward “Cy” Strange, born in Maguire, Ontario on June 22, 1914, was a radio pioneer who co-hosted CBC Radio’s Fresh Air with Bill McNeil for 17 years until his death in 1987. Their listening audience topped 500,000. In his early years, he was heard on stations in Timmins, Kingston, on the BBC and, in 1943, on CFRB as an announcer with the likes of Gordon Sinclair, Kate Aiken and Jack Dennett. Cy Strange died in 1987 and the age of 72.
