What Is a Cremation Ossuary?

A cremation ossuary is a shared common vault providing a unique final resting place for the placement of cremated remains.

Unlike traditional ossuaries in Europe which are used to store bones, modern cremation ossuaries are designed specifically for the scattering of cremated remains in a communal setting. They offer families a simple, dignified alternative to burial or niche placement.

Families can choose to scatter cremated remains with or without memorialization in the ossuary.

We offer cremation ossuaries at three cemeteries across the GTA:

  • Pine Hills Cemetery – Features five dark grey granite walls arranged around a central scattering area
  • Meadowvale Cemetery – Includes two mahogany coloured granite walls surrounding the central area
  • Thornton Cemetery – Designed with four mahogany coloured granite pillars arranged in a semi-circle around the central space

Each location is designed as a quiet, landscaped setting, with architectural features and seasonal plantings that create a peaceful place for reflection.
