Witnessing a Cremation
A Modern Approach to Witnessing
For many families, witnessing the cremation is a deeply important part of saying goodbye. This is especially true for those of Hindu, Sikh and Jain faiths, where witnessing is a sacred tradition. At MPG, we’ve reimagined the cremation experience to make it more inclusive, respectful and comforting.
Our state-of-the-art witnessing rooms are:
- Bright, spacious and climate-controlled
- Designed for comfort and reflection
- Equipped with modern technology that allows loved ones to initiate the cremation process
What to Expect at a Witnessing Ceremony

A witnessing ceremony is similar to a memorial or graveside service. Family and friends gather in a private room where the casket is placed on a special lift in front of the cremation chamber. A celebrant or faith leader may offer words of comfort. At the appropriate moment, a designated family member or staff member presses a button to begin the cremation process.
This moment – when the casket gently enters the cremation enclosure – is often a powerful and healing part of the farewell.
The Benefits of Witnessing
