Lloyd Soules
Plot 6, Section 72, Lot 5
Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Toronto
The sun shone brightly on the afternoon of August 10, 1914 as the small boat in which Mrs. Soules was sitting began drifting away from the Port McNicol shoreline and further and further into Georgian Bay. Her daughter, 18-year-old Della Soules and her girlfriend, 17-year-old Edna Clarke swam desperately out into the bay in an attempt to retrieve the craft. Overcome by the cold water, the two girls soon began to panic. On shore, 23-year-old Lloyd Soules saw their predicament and swam out to help. Unfortunately, all three young people sank beneath the unforgiving waters of Georgian Bay and drowned.
