Welcome to Beechwood Cemetery

Safety reminder at our cemeteries: Our cemeteries collectively offer valued green spaces and a vast tree canopy, serving as an important ‘carbon sink’ in urban environments. They also include one of the largest arboretums in Canada. We are so fortunate to have all this beauty in our midst, but that kind of beauty takes expert care to maintain. Our dedicated arborist team has noticed an increase in people approaching them while they’re actively working with chainsaws and wood-chippers. Approaching workers during active tree work can be startling and potentially dangerous. While we understand tree work can be fascinating to watch, please respect all safety barriers and signage while visiting our cemeteries. These setups are in place to protect both the public and our staff. If you have questions or concerns, please direct them to the cemetery office.

Located in the heart of Vaughan, Beechwood Cemetery offers a peaceful and picturesque setting for remembrance and reflection. Established in 1965, this 120-acre cemetery features gently rolling landscapes, mature trees, colourful flowerbeds and thoughtfully placed birdhouses, creating a beautiful environment for families and visitors.

In such a time of immense crisis, you guys really went above and beyond. This is our second time burying someone at Beechwood Cemetery and this time was the best experience so far.

Cemetery

Tranquil and breathtaking, Beechwood opened in 1965. The cemetery’s 120 acres of gently rolling landscape, mature trees and open spaces provides a place for reflection and contemplation, with new trees, colourful flowerbeds and birdhouses adding to the scenic beauty.

We offer a range of dignified and flexible burial options to suit your family’s needs and traditions. Whether you’re planning ahead or making arrangements for a loved one, our burial choices provide meaningful ways to honour and remember.

Ground Burial

Flat Marker Grave: A single grave that accommodates a flat marker and allows for the burial of up to two caskets and four cremated remains (subject to interment rights agreement).
Upright Monument Grave: A single grave that permits an upright monument and allows for up to two caskets and four cremated remains (subject to interment rights agreement).
Memorial Rail or Wall Grave: A single grave located adjacent to a limestone wall or a wrought-iron memorial rail, ideal for placing a flat marker or teal bronze memorial plaque.
Larger Family Lots: Two or more graves grouped together, allowing for the installation of a custom upright monument, perfect for families seeking a shared memorial space.

Cremation Interment

Beechwood Cemetery in Vaughan offers a variety of respectful and meaningful cremation memorial options, allowing families to choose what best reflects their wishes and traditions:

Cremated remains burial in a traditional grave, family lot or dedicated urn space
Scattering in our serene, landscaped memorial scattering area
Glass-fronted niches in the Mausoleum of the Madonna, allowing for visible urn placement alongside personal mementos
Outdoor columbarium niches within an elegant domed structure, offering a peaceful setting for remembrance
Specialty memorial sites located beside natural granite boulders or limestone walls for a distinctive tribute

Veterans’ Section

Beechwood Cemetery proudly honours the service and sacrifice of Canadian and Allied veterans and their spouses with a dedicated Veterans’ Section. This tranquil area features a striking veterans’ memorial and offers a dignified final resting place for those who served. As a gesture of gratitude, interment rights in this section are offered at a reduced cost, recognizing the invaluable contributions of our veterans to their country.

Mausoleum

The Mausoleum of the Madonna offers a dignified and elegant space for casket entombment. Spanning 43,000 square feet, this two-storey, Italian-inspired mausoleum combines timeless architecture with modern amenities. Families can choose from a variety of crypt options in a serene environment filled with natural light, artful design and thoughtful details.
