Anne Sado, Chair

Anne joined George Brown College as President in 2004, after a long and successful career as a telecommunications executive. She currently sits on the board of Legacy Private Trust. Anne has previously held positions on several not-for-profit boards, including as chair of several, such as Trillium Health Centre, Colleges Ontario, Polytechnics Canada, the YWCA of Greater Toronto and Junior Achievement of Peel Region. She was inducted into the University of Toronto’s prestigious Engineering Hall of Distinction in 2010 and was awarded the Ontario Professional Engineers Citizenship Award in 2001 and Gold Medal in 2007. Anne received the Queen’s Golden and Diamond Jubilee medals for her work in the community and is also Member of the Order of Canada – June 2013. In 2018, she was appointed Honorary Colonel of the Governor General’s Horse Guards. Anne has been a member of the board since 2012.

Tom Bitove

Tom is Chair of PowerBev Inc. and PUR brands Inc. He and his brother Nick created the Hard Rock Café chain in Canada. Tom served on the inaugural Board of Directors of the Toronto Raptors from 1993-1996. He is currently on the Board of Directors and Executive Committee for ProAction, Cops and Kids, an organisation dedicated to raising funds to support police interaction with youth-at-risk. Tom is Honorary Lieutenant-Colonel of the 7th Toronto Regiment of the Royal Canadian Army and Honorary Chief of Police of the Toronto Police Service. He was invested in the Order of Ontario in 2007 and received the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal in 2012. Tom has been a member of the board since 2022 and a member of the Governance & Human Resources Committee.

Brent Houlden

Brent Houlden works as the Chief Restructuring Officer or interim CEO/CFO on urgent and critical assignments primarily for Private Equity or financial lenders. He is operationally focused with deep financial skills. Before retiring from Deloitte in 2014, he held various leadership positions which involved building Deloitte’s Consulting and Financial Advisory practices. Since leaving Deloitte, he was the CEO of Dealnet Capital Corp. and CFO of Daniel Leather. He currently serves on the Boards of Extendicare, Enerkem, and Corus Orthodontics. His professional and academic qualifications include ICD.D, CPA - CA, Licensed Insolvency Trustee (retired), and a MBA. Brent has been a member of the board since 2014 and serves on the Finance and Committee.

Jennifer Lee

Jennifer is Vice-Chairwoman at Deloitte, where she leads global transformation for clients through strategic expertise in value creation and mergers and acquisitions. As a senior partner, she serves as the global lead client service partner for a major consumer-retail client. Formerly Managing Partner for Deloitte Canada’s Emerging Growth businesses, she has addressed key issues including climate change, ESG and digital identity. Jennifer also brings deep industry experience having worked in Germany, Hong Kong and Central Asia.

Jennifer previously led Deloitte Global’s Financial Advisory clients & markets, where she launched the NextGen Program to advance women into leadership roles. She also led Deloitte’s global pandemic response and has been recognized as a Global Leader in Consulting by Consulting Magazine and as Manulife Mentor of the Year by Ascend Canada.  

Jennifer holds active board roles with Trillium Health Partners, Windmill Microlending, and  ZeroStone.AI. She holds a BA from the University of Waterloo and an MBA from the Rotman School of Management.

Jennifer has been a member of the MPG board since 2025.

John Monahan (Ex Officio)

John is President and CEO of the Mount Pleasant Group. He has had a diverse career spanning the private, public and not-for-profit sectors. John practiced law with Fasken Martineau DuMoulin LLP in Toronto and held a series of progressively responsible roles with the Ontario Ministry of Economic Development and Trade in Toronto and New York before joining The Mosaic Institute as its inaugural Executive Director. Most recently, John was a two-term Warden of Hart House at the University of Toronto, where he was also a member of the Steering Committee of the University of Toronto Response to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada, an appointed chair of the Academic Appeals Committee and a Senior Fellow at Massey College.

A lifelong volunteer, John has been actively involved with community-based organizations engaged with a wide array of issues, including newcomer settlement, cancer support, performing arts and human rights, among others.
John has been a member of the board since 2022.

Don Morrison

Don is an independent director and was Senior Managing Director and Executive Vice-President, Asset Management and Operations for OMERS Private Markets. His board experience includes current membership on the Canadian Business Growth Fund Board of Directors and Advisory Boards of Canada Post Pension Plan, Nicola Private Capital, Power Sustainable Lios and Sakara Capital Partners, as well as past service on over 20 boards.

Don has been a member of the board since 2016 and is on the Governance & Human Resources Committee, as well as serving as chair of the Finance & Investment Committee.
 

Rajiv Silgardo

Rajiv has over 40 years’ experience as a senior executive in the investment industry in asset and wealth management. Prior to retiring in 2019, Rajiv was President and CEO of UBC Investment Management Trust, where he oversaw the investment of the University’s pension, endowment and long-term asset pools. Before joining UBC, Rajiv was Co-CEO of BMO Global Asset Management. He currently serves on the board of OMERS Administration Corporation, where he is a member of the Investment and Audit and Actuarial Committees. Additionally, Rajiv is a member of the Carfin Inc. board where he Chairs the Investment Committee. Other industry activities include serving as a member of the Investment Committee of the UHN Foundation and as a past member of the Investment Committee of the Vancouver Foundation, the TSX Trading Advisory Committee, and of the Board of Governors of the Bishop Strachan School in Toronto. Rajiv has a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) and a Master of Commerce from Delhi University, a MBA from the University of North Carolina, and is a Chartered Financial Analyst.

He has been a member of the board since 2021 and serves on the Finance & Investment Committee.
 

Constance L. Sugiyama

Constance is President of ConMark Strategy Inc., providing high level strategy advice to both the public and private sectors. She currently serves as a director of the Building Ontario Fund, as an Emeritus Director of the Gairdner Foundation, as a member of the Advisory Committee of the Nova Scotia Health Authority’s Innovation Hub and as a strategy advisor to Serefin Health. Among her many board roles, she has served as a director and Vice Chair of the Ontario Financing Authority, as a director of the Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada and was the first woman to chair the Hospital for Sick Children. Constance was appointed a Member of the Order of Canada in 2014, received a Doctorate of Laws, Honoris Causa from the University of Western Ontario in 2015 and in 2024, received a Foreign Minister’s Commendation from the Government of Japan for her contributions to the promotion of friendship between Canada and Japan. 

Constance has been a member of the board since 2015 and is currently the Chair of the Governance & Human Resources Committee.

Angie Aquino (Ex Officio)

Angie is the President of Canadian Memorial Services (CMS). Her career with MPG began at Prospect Cemetery and spans more than 45 years. After graduating from Toronto Metropolitan University, she joined the organization full-time, initially working in various roles and capacities at the corporate office.

In the mid-1990s, Angie became Cemetery Manager for Meadowvale, Prospect and Beechwood cemeteries. Her extensive experience led to a promotion in late 2009 to Director of Cemetery and Preplanning Services. In 2013, she transitioned to overseeing funeral operations, becoming President of CMS and the Director of Funeral Services for MPG.

As a committed industry leader, Angie is an active voice in the profession. She has been serving as Co-Chair of the Government Relations Committee since 2015 for the Ontario Association of Cemetery and Funeral Professionals, where she has been a member throughout her career. She is also a former member of the Funeral and Transfer Services Advisory Committee for the Bereavement Authority of Ontario and previously served on the Registrar’s Advisory Committee for the former Board of Funeral Services.

Angie has been a member of the board since 2013.

Kevin Shea

Kevin is owner and President of SheaChez Inc., and former President of Sirius Satellite Radio, YTV Television Network, Global Television Network and Alliance Atlantis Communications. His past governance experience includes chairing the Canadian Film Centre and Ontario Media Development Corporation boards, as well as serving on the boards of organizations including the National Capital Commission, Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television, Canadian Women in Communications, the Canadian Film and Television Production Association, the Banff International Television Festival, Life Network, CN Tower Limited, Children’s Broadcast Institute and the Canadian Children’s Foundation. Kevin also chaired the Toronto Tourism Recovery Alliance in the aftermath of SARS. In 2013, he was awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee medal. 

Kevin has been a member of the board since 1998.
