Mount Pleasant Group’s Elgin Mills Cemetery, Funeral and Cremation Centres has recently launched a tree‑planting initiative led by Elgin Mills staff to support greener, healthier neighbourhoods. Plantings are taking place at various locations throughout the community and will continue all season long. So far at community events at Meander Park in Richmond Hill, Fallingbrook Park in Whitby and Austin Drive Park in Markham, the Elgin Mills team has successfully planted 116 trees.
MPG has collaborated with two dedicated local environmental groups (LEAF and 10,000 Trees) to bring this project to life. Both organizations focus on stewardship, education and building lasting connections between people and nature. Thanks to this collaboration, the cost of the trees has been fully covered.
At Mount Pleasant Group, our work is rooted in service, both to the families we support and to the communities where we live and work. Tree planting is one way we can contribute locally, helping to strengthen green spaces while encouraging connection and shared stewardship of the environment.
Through this initiative, the Elgin Mills team is taking practical steps to support sustainability and demonstrate care for the places entrusted to us. Each tree planted reflects our ongoing commitment to being a responsible, community‑focused partner – one that looks ahead while staying grounded in the neighbourhoods we serve.
